Issey Miyake
Since the company was founded in 1973, the Japanese design house Issey Miyake has been well-known as an exclussive label. Since 1999, the designer himself has devoted his time for research, which has created increasing opportunities for various other designers working on his collections. Issey Miyake Group is known for its traditionally minimalistic design.
Since 2001, Issey Miyake Group has been designing and producing wristwatches in co-operation with Seiko Instruments.
In 2001, the company launched Insetto, a collection designed by Shunji Yamanaka. Insetto collection is inspired by the body of a dragonfly. The collection is manufactured and assembled in Seikos special manufacturing plant Shizukuishi.
Shunji Yamanaka is one of Japans most famous industrial designers. He began his carrier at Nissan Motor Design Center, and in 1987 he started to do some freelancing for various companies. Shunji Yamanaka started his own company, Leading Edge Design Corporation, in 1994, and has since then designed everything from cameras and cars to furniture and robots. He has won several design awards, and can be seen as one of the jury members in many design contests around the world.
