Chopard
Chopard was founded in 1860, by a 24-year-old Louis-Ulysse Chopard. The company produces quality watches, jewelry and accessories. Chopard's timepieces are famous for their innovative mechanical complications.
Louis-Ulysse Chopard grew up in a family of watchmakers, and had "watches in his blood". The company was founded in the Swiss city of Sonvilier, in Canton of Jura. Chopard focused on the precision pocket watches and chronometers based on an innovative technic.
In the 1960's the Chopard Company was taken over by Paul-Andre Chopard. He was the last of the Chopard family to lead the company. His sons were not interested in continuing the family business, and it was sold to Karl Scheufele.
In 1975, Chopard's production plant was moved to Meyrin-Geneva. This marked a whole new era for the company as it started producing ladies watches. A year after Chopard launched their famous "Happy Diamonds" collection, which featured mobile diamonds that floated freely between two transparent sapphire crystals.
During the 1980's, Chopard opened his first boutiques in Hong Kong and in Vienna. The company also started a collaboration with the Italian rally event Mille Miglia, and launched a watch collection by the same name. Chopard launches a unique Mille Miglia watch every year.
In 1993, Chopard introduced their famous "Happy Sport" collection, and later during the same decade they launched their first in-house movement, LUC.
Chopard LUC Quattro watch was introduced in 2000. This watch is powered by a technically very advanced caliber, which provides an impressive 9-day power reserve. In the following years, Chopard introduced several new watch lines. Happy Spirit in 2003, LUC Regulator and Butterfly in 2004 and Copacabana, Lunar 1 and Golden Diamonds in 2005.
Chopard has developed a long line of collections over the years, including quartz watches, mechanical watches, watches with advanced complications, classical watches and sporty watches.
